Peter Obi Presidency 2023: AKS Campaign Team Set Structure

…Synchronizes All Support Groups Into ‘Directorate of Support Groups’

…As POSN Eulogized Smooth Take Off

By Saviour Ekpe

As the 2023 general elections gather momentum, political parties and aspirants to various political offices are making final preparations for campaigns across the country.

For the presidential campaign of Peter Obi, series of activities are in top gear as the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) was inaugurated in Abuja recently with Captain Augustine Okon appointed as the Co-ordinator of the Akwa Ibom State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) who sued for ‘maximum cooperation and prayers’ from members to succeed.

In his maiden statement to the Obidients in the state and made available to Century Newsfront, Captain Okon noted, “I am consulting widely with Stakeholders; the Labour Party, the Labour Unions, the Support Groups for their inputs into the build-up of the Akwa Ibom State Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council. The members of that Council will be announced soon. I want to thank you all for your contributions to our Movement. So far, your enthusiasm produced the mammoth crowd we generated at the 2 Million Man Mega March on 1st October 2022.

We are waiting for a revised date for the flag-off of the Obi-Datti Presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom. Please be prepared so that the revised date does not take us by surprise. It is likely to be in the early days of November. Our Principal H.E. Mr. Peter Obi himself will be here for the flag off and the least we can do is to welcome him with a crowd greater than we did for the mega march”.

For effective and orderly coordination, Captain Okon announced that all support groups in the state be swapped into the Directorate of Support Groups with an erudite Professor, Des Wilson as Chairman, “For the time being, in order to help me set up a Functional Campaign council, I have made a few interim appointments; 1. To orderly bring support groups into the Campaign Council, a Directorate of Support Groups has been created and will be Co-ordinated by Prof. Des Wilson Tel: 08064455559. He will be assisted by Deacon. Iniubong Jackson, Tel: 08139474811 (Coordinator of POSN) who will act as Secretary 2. Mr. Pius Ebong of P.O.I N.T will serve as Director of Administration 3. Mr. Enefiok Peters (Coordinator PoM) is appointed Director of Finance 4. Ranger Emmanuel Obot is appointed Head of Security. These appointments are interim but necessary to get some housekeeping work out of the way. Substantive appointments will be communicated after due process 5.  The Coalition is dissolved and all Support Groups under the Coalition and those outside the Coalition will all be Co-ordinated under the Directorate of Support Groups headed by Professor Des Wilson”.

The PCC, Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, called on all Support Groups to focus their attention on Voter Education and Operations at the Unit Levels. He further noted that the Directorate will synchronise schedules and harmonize Support Group operations at unit levels, so that the activities of Support Groups in the same unit complement and enhance each, rather than infringe on each other and charged them to lower the volume of emphasis on themselves and begin to migrate into emphasis on the Candidate and the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, “As we go out into the field, we should encourage the electorate who are non-aligned, i.e. not registered in any Political Party to register as members of the Labour Party. The registration process is ‘FREE’ and is very simple. It can be done online or they can be given pre-downloaded forms to fill. The Campaign office, 58 Bennett Bassey Street Uyo has installed a high-speed Internet hot-spot connection offering unlimited bandwidth. Feel free to do your work here. The paint-work of the Office is completed. It was donated by My wife Mrs. Lola Okon. The heart of the people of Akwa Ibom State is with Mr. Peter Obi. Let’s convert that goodwill into two million or more votes”, Okon concludes.

In a message of congratulations signed by the immediate Secretary, Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), Akwa Ibom State, Samuel Abasiekong-Abasiekong and made available to Century Newsfront appreciated the effective take-off of the PCC in the state and commended those appointed into various positions. The message reads, “All members, State Exco members, Heads of various departments of Peter Obi Support Network – POSN are very delighted on the appointment of their Caucus members Prof. Des Wilson and Deacon Iniubong Jackson, POSN State Coordinator on their emergence as Head of Directorate of Support Groups and Secretary respectively for Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Akwa Ibom State. We pray that God gives you sufficient grace for the task ahead”.
