The Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, His Lordship, Most Reverend (Dr.) Camillus Umoh has unveiled the foundation Stone of presbytery at St. Francis Xavier autonomous Catholic community in Ikot Osurua.
The event took place recently as part of the centenary celebration of the diocese. The spiritual father thanked the Almighty God for His benevolence and his tremendous love towards the parish. He appreciated God for giving them the opportunity and knowledge to work hard in other to take God’s work to a greater level.
Bishop Umoh explained that it is only through the wisdom of God that the idea can be developed, stressing that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, “I have seen all the efforts you have put to the growth of the church, your reward is awaiting you”.
In his homily, the Bishop charges the congregation to embrace the graciousness of their forefathers with open arms and pass same to their future generations. He admonished the congregants on the need to be steadfast and strengthen their faith in Christ, maintaining that it is only those who are pure in heart would see the lord. At the course of it, the church laity president, Mr. Patrick Benedict in his address, acknowledged the good works of Bishop Umoh.
Also speaking was the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Vincent Nyoyoko who applauded the bishop for his commitment and doggedness in steering the affairs of the church for optimum productivity. He expressed his gratitude to all and sundry for their contributions and promised to work hard in other to ensure that God’s work is successful. Among those who attended the event were, the Dean of Ifuho Denary, Very Reverend Father John Bosco; Very Reverend Father Emmanuel Udo and other invited guests
