The Association of Professional Printers Akwa Ibom State (APPA) has concluded plans to confer an Excellent Governance Award (EGA) on the Akwa Ibom State governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
According to a release jointly signed by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Prince Andy Bernard and Secretary, Esangubong Daniel, the Award is in recognition of the governor’s industrialization drive, massive road construction across the three senatorial districts and many other empowerment schemes in the state. The release states that presentation of the Award on the governor would take place on Thursday July 6, 2017 during a courtesy call on the governor in the Government House, Uyo by the National and State officials of the association to be led by the National President, Society of Printing Practitioners of Nigeria, Mr. Nwora Egbuniwe.
The statement added that the association exist to train Akwa Ibom youths in the art of printing to keep pace with the current technological development in the printing industry and allied services for self reliance in accordance with the dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel administration with emphasis on ethics and excellence. They also observed that it was in existence to checkmate and control the activities of quack and dubious people who may wish to collaborate with some newspaper houses to publish articles meant to discredit and attack the government and its policies.
The release maintained that the association was out to support the government and its laudable programmes and policies for meaningful development of the state. The association 2017 annual lecture will be holding at NUJ Press Centre, Information Drive, off IBB Way, Uyo will feature the launching of 50 million Naira Ultra-modern Secretariat to be chaired by Elder Raphael Isobara, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sifon Press and Publishers Ltd, Uyo; Senator (Chief) Emmanuel Ibok-essien, Chairman Governing Council, Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene as Chief launcher. Paper presentation by eminent scholars and experts including Elder Nnamnso Umoren, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Talent Business School, Uyo; Prof. Imoh Ukpong, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Uyo among others.
The release states that Prominent personalities would attend the event among them, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel; the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, KSJ; the State Chief Judge, His Lordship Hon. Justice Godwin Abraham; Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Onofiok Luke; Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and many others would take place on Friday July 7, 2017 at the NUJ Press Centre Information Drive, off IBB Way, Uyo. The event kick-started with a thanksgiving service, which took place on Sunday July 2, 2017 at Christ Believers Evangelical Mission No. 99 Udo-Umana Street, Uyo. Members of the general public are hereby invited to attend.
