It was a thing of joy as the members of Qua Iboe Church, Essien Otoro Area Conference gathered in their numbers in commemoration of the 1st Area Conference.
Addressing the participants of the conference with the theme “Dominion Over all” drawn from Genesis 1:28, the general superintendent and chairman of the conference, Qua Iboe Church, Rev. Ekpedeme Efanga, charged the Christians to rise from slumber and take authority and dominion over all the manipulations of Satan, stressing that from creation, it was ordained by God for man to have dominion and subdue all things in the World.
Rev. Efanga who was represented by the secretary general of the conference Rev. Godwin Obot pointed out that theme of the conference apart from being apt is timely on the fact that it reminded all Christians to rise up and take their rightful position in God. While congratulating the church on the occasion of its 1st Area Annual Conference, Rev. Obot applauded the doggedness and commitment of the Area Superintendent, Rev. Nseabasi Anako (JP) is setting up the conference to the glory of God.
In his address, the Area Superintendent and Chairman of the 1st Annual Conference, Rev. Nseabasi J. Anako while thanking God and members of the church among other invited guests for the successful hosting of the event, noted that “Today, the area is one year. As a very little child she is still learning to be independent and with God by our side and your co-operation, effort and support, we shall have dominion over all and achieve greater successes and take our rightful place soonest.”
“I thank God for the peaceful atmosphere that had prevailed in the Area Conference in the past eight month of this administration and also appreciate the high sense of responsibility and co-operation exhibited by many members. I solicit continuous support from all levels in the years ahead as well as call for improvement in attendance and punctuality to meetings, he noted.”
According to Revd. Anako, “I wish to state that Area Easter convention made great spiritual impacts on the lives of the participants. The convention which commenced from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th April, 2018 at the QIC Primary School ground Odoro Ikot, Essien Udim Local Government Area had as its theme “The gift of God” taken from Ephesian 3: 14-19. The attendance from day one to grand finale was so impressive. The convention featured “Undiluted word of God” “Soul lifting praise and worship, soul lifting religious film”, “song competition and medical treatments”, among other things as many gave their life to Christ. We need a bus well equipped with public address system to go to the villages and weak congregations to reawaken and strengthen them. This will enhance the work of evangelism and minimize transportation challenges. We need your co-operation so that we can realize our dream in the work of Evangelism in the Area Conference and beyond, Revd. Anako added.”
In the keynote address presented by Elder Omega Akpan, “The theme for the Conference is “Dominion over All”. Gen. 1:28. This was the first command and mandate of God to man to rule all spheres of the earth God created-have dominion over the fish of the sea (hydrosphere) dominion over the birds of the air (atmosphere) and dominion over everything that creeps upon the earth after Noah’s flood, the dominion mandate was again given to man by God in Gen. 9:1-3. However, it was until Jesus came to earth and reclaimed that mandate through His death and payment for sin that man could stand against the power of Satan. Luke 19:10 say that Jesus reclaimed all that was lost in the garden, including man’s right to the earth.”
In a chat with newsmen shortly after the event, the Area Secretary, Revd. Ofombuk Akpan expressed optimum for the successful hosting of the conference, pointing out that since the arrival of Revd. Anako, God has brought revival and blessings to the Area. Revd. Etim Frank Umoren on his part, thanked God for restoring the past glory of Essien Otoro Area through Revd. Nseabasi Anako, stressing that it is his prayer as a servant of God from Essien Otoro that the church should move from glory to glory.
Chairman Planning Committee, Elder Engr. Aniefiok S. Udoh, noted that “The Annual Conference Planning Committee of Essien Otoro Area returns all glory to the Almighty God for being with us and seeing us through the planning process and successful hosting of the first Area Annual Conference. Our gratitude also goes to the General Supt./Chairman of Conference, Revd. Ekpedeme M. Efanga for creating and inaugurating Essien Otoro Area Conference in 2017 and Conference Scribe Elder Godwin E. Obot for honouring our invitation to grace this occasion. We appreciate the Area Superintendent and Chairman, Revd. NseAbasi J. Anako (JP) and the standing committee for giving us the mandate to serve in the Planning Committee. We express our sincere thanks to the chairman on the occasion, Mr. Emem E. Samuel for accepting to chair the occasion to the glory of God. Worthy of mention for appreciation are the Guest Speaker, Elder Omega N. Akpan and Revd. Eno J. Ofum for their sacrificial contributions. We enjoy the co-operation and support of Elder (Hon) Raphael Isobara, chairman Essien Udim Local Government Area, Obong Michael Afangide (OON) – PDP Political Father, Akwa Ibom State, the Royal Fathers of the day, Area Conferences, Otoro and Essien Annang Superintendents, Provost SBTC, Abak, invited Guests, Suprientendencies, Churches, Fellowships, Choir groups, the Host Church/Superintendency and all faithful members of Qua Iboe Church and hereby express our gratitude to them. May God Almighty bless and reward your efforts accordingly and give you journey mercies back to your destinations, Elder Udoh stated.”
Also in an interaction with newsmen, the secretary of the planning committee, Elder Mfon Mentee thanked God and members of the church for the successful hosting of the event, expressing hope that the next conference of the Area shall be more rewarding.
