The Minister for Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has been called upon to redeploy the Principal of Federal Science and Technical College, Miss Pauline Etomiahe from the school or else there will be hail and brimstone falling in the school.
Staff of the College in a peaceful protest this morning decried what they referred to as high handedness on the part of the Principal being matted on them, denial of their right and privileges, arrogance and illegal fee collection. Displaying placard with various inscription such as, ‘pay us our entitlement’; ‘no DTA no work’; stop abusing us, we are responsible parents’; enough is enough for illegal fee collection’; Pharaoh, let my people go’ among other heart touching inscriptions.
Addressing Journalists, the State Chairman, Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Iboro Umoren noted with dismay the untoward behavior of Miss Etomiahe whom he described as a difficult woman. He pointed out their areas of grievances to include non-payment of staff Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) to staff from 2014 to date; illegal fee collection, “this include N8000 per student for bed wetting and N2500 per student for breaking louvers in school and these louvers were broken long ago by outgone students yet, those louvers have not been replaced”.
Comrade Umoren, who also the staff of Federal Science and Technical College added that four staff of the college died while on their duty post and the Principal, Miss Etomiahe turned down every request to release school bus for the burial. “there is no transparency in this school, the Principal runs the school as she likes. We were told that there was no money for staff entitlements, if there is no money, how comes that over a million naira is used for party? As we speak, the least gift to be presented for beneficiary for a party, which was scheduled for today goes for one hundred and fifty thousand naira but our hard working staff members were denied of their entitlements”, the labour leader cried out.
It could be recalled that same Principal, Miss Pauline Etomiahe was reported to have beaten a journalist in the state, allegedly arrested parents and detained them in Police custody and of the habit of harassing staff with little or no provocation since her arrival in 2014 with her regular slogan, :go to where you want to go, do whatever you want to do. I am equal to the task”. For more details, watch out for subsequent editions.
