The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has appointed Captain Richard Okere as an Eminent Peace Ambassador (EPA) to mark the United Nations International day to eliminate violence against women.
This was made known by the World Peace President, His Excellency, Ambassador Per Stafsen the penultimate Monday at Imo Concord Hotel Owerri, Imo State. Ambassador Stafsen, represented by the International Spokesman, Ambassador Emmanuel Nweke, applauded Captain Okere for his role in promoting sustainable peace in Rivers State, which has gained the attention of the association. He described Captain Okere as individual whose life exemplify the ideals of living for the sake of others and who dedicates themselves to promote universal moral values and the establishment of a cultural value system predicated on trust and peace.
The appointment, which also came with the presentation of an award in a written statement was in appreciation of Captain Okere’s support for unity and good governance in Rivers State as well as his effort in standing against anti-social behaviours. The Eminent Peace Award, according to Ambassador Stafsen, “is the highest calling and most outstanding recognition to those individuals like you whose life exemplify the ideals of living for the sake of others and who dedicate themselves to promote universal moral values and the establishment of a cultural value system predicated on trust and peace. With this appointment, you will join the league of prominent global citizens on the category of Global Diplomat with outstanding prestigious status. The appointment is generally in appreciation of your support for the unity of Rivers State, support for good governance and above all your effort in standing against anti-social behaviours”.
It is also worthy of note that the appointment is in consonance with the United Nations General Assembly Declaration of the year 2001-2011 as International Decade for Peace and non violence and UNESCO culture of peace as further enshrined in the United Nations declaration of peoples’ rights to peace.
Also, the appointment came with immense benefits including exclusive rights to speak in favour of global peace against any act inimical to world peace as well as participation in United Nations Summits in different countries of the globe including United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia inter alia.
