Ritman Students Win Inter-University Debate By Edidiong Esara

Female students of Ritman University recently beat their counterparts from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State to emerge winner of a debate during the Women Supporting Women National Conference.

Debate topic was “Women are the Backbone of Society, therefore, they Make Better Leaders”, with RU on the proposing side at Governor’s Office Annex, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Christiana Obiala, Melody Dodoh and Enobong Nyahette spoke for Ritman University.

It was to mark the National Conference of National Female Students Association of Nigeria and attended by students, women leaders, academics and government representatives. In attendance were delegates and debaters from tertiary institutions in different parts of the country, including the University of Nigeria (Nsukka & Enugu campuses), University of Benin, Akwa Ibom State University, Rivers State University, Abia State University, University of Uyo, University of Maiduguri, University of Abuja, Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic (Rivers State) and others.

Among other objectives, the conference was designed to encourage female students nationwide to discuss opportunities, promote spirit of entrepreneurship, education, health, security and economic empowerment.
