Special Duties Commissioner Lauds Udom on Workers Welfare

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Engr Bassey Okon has applauded the Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel for making Workers’ Welfare in the State a priority of his Administration.

Engr Bassey Okon made this known in his office Friday, August 12, during a send forth Ceremony organized by the Ministry in honour of retiring staff, Mrs. Imo Udom.

Speaking to Newsmen at the event, the Commissioner commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for prompt payment of Workers’ salaries, creating an enabling working environment in the state, as well as giving the needed support to the staff of his Ministry and the entire Akwa Ibom workforce to excel, which according to him has boosted their capacity for effectiveness and higher productivity.

The Commissioner poured encomiums on the retiree for being of good conduct and performing her functions creditably throughout the duration of her service, encouraging her to sustain the good spirit of hard work as she bows out from the State Civil Service and wish her success in future endeavors. Okon said the essence of the send forth Ceremony was to encourage the retiring Staff and those who are currently in service. service to put more effort in their assigned responsibilities, bearing in mind that they would be accorded similar honour someday.

In her response, the retiring Staff, Mrs Imo Udom thanked the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary and other staff of the Ministry for the harmonious working relationship they shared and appreciated them for the honour done her on her retirement. She pledged to sustain her relationship with staff of the ministry as she was leaving while praying God to guide and protect everyone in the Ministry.

The event witnessed the outpouring of Goodwill messages by fellow staff of the Ministry to the retiree, even as she received affectionate valedictory remarks from the management team. Highpoint of the event was the presentation of gift items to the retiring staff by the Ministry through the Honourable Commissioner who was flanked by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Udosen Ephraim.

Other management Staff who graced the occasion were: Head of Engineering Services, Engr. Etim Nkereuwem; Head of Administration and Supplies, Prince Okon Abia; Head of Project implementation and Coordination, Arc. Ekanwan Alale; Head of Accounting and Finance, Mr. Emmanuel Essien; Head of Geo – Technical Services, Material and Quality Control, Mrs Helen Daniel; Head of Aviation Development, Mrs Winifred Inyang; Assistant Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Emmanuel Edeke, amongst other staff. Until her retirement, Mrs. Imoh Udom  was Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry.
