The Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Maria Ikrok has commended the women-friendly disposition of Governor Udom Emmanuel and that of the wife, Martha for their roles in emancipating women of the State politically and otherwise.
Prof. Ikrok made this commendation in Nto Edino in Obot Akara local government area during the PDP primaries. She thanked the governor and the wife for giving women prominent roles to play in the present administration, added that though other leaders attempted, Udom has increased tremendously the quota given to women.
The Ace education administrator, herself a former Chairman of the State Secondary Education Board aside giving women prominent roles in this government, making it as a policy and zoning of local government chairmanship office for women in some of the local councils in the state is a big boost for women political career in the state.
Prof. Ikrok particularly poured encomiums on the wife of the governor, Dr (Mrs.) Martha Emmanuel for being a mother in the Government House, “I want to thank the wife of the governor in mentoring our women, showcasing them, making them successful in life as she has done to me. She indeed is a role model for all women. The women of Akwa Ibom State can today, stand tall and proud of themselves because the governor’s wife has made them so”.
She commended the emergence of Mrs. Agnes Udoenwewen as the PDP Chairmanship standard-bearer for Obot Akara local government area and thanked stakeholders for supporting the candidacy of Mrs. Udoenwewen to ensure success at the polls. She described Mrs. Udoenwewen as an astute administration who will work for the good of the people of the area, “Mrs. Udoenwewen has already had her manifestoes as inspired during her private time, we don’t expect her to follow her manifestoes, we don’t expect her to leave a life of an angel in the flesh, she should do what she knows to do best and we are here to give her all the support for her to succeed”.
