Understanding A Divine Slogan: ‘Let God’s Will Be Done in Nigeria’

In 2006, when Godswill Akpabio indicated interest to vie for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State, the slogan of his campaign was, “Let God’s Will Be Done”. By the turn of the following year, 2007 when election to that exalted office held, God’s Will was done and dusted and he became the governor of Akwa Ibom State trouncing 57 others, some with prodigious credentials.

In 2011, when he sought a second term, he rechristened the slogan into: “Let God’s Will Be Done Again”. Despite the raging storm mounted by the opposition, God’s Will was done in the State as Akpabio won that election straight and square and was sworn in for a second term. It was again a faithful validation of God’s Will for Akwa Ibom State.

In 2015, Akpabio decided to support Governor Udom Emmanuel to succeed him as governor of Akwa Ibom State. Again the slogan came in handy. After all, it is illogical to change a winning team. And so the slogan: “Let God’s Will Be Done Again and Again and Again” took centre stage. And it came to pass as the prayer shone in efficacy and validity.

The former two term governor of Akwa Ibom State has brought the spiritually potent and efficacious prayer to national stage. He is selfless about it. He is saying, “Let God’s Will Be Done in Nigeria”. As a statesman, his wish is for Nigeria to take its pride of place and for its people to live and prosper in safety.

His purpose for Nigeria which includes Security, Unity and Economy resonates with the prayer, “Let God’s Will Be Done in Nigeria”, and interrogates the consciences of all Nigerians on why we deserve God’s Will in our Nation. It behooves those responsible for giving the initial breath to this prayer to be ready to do this sacred will of God in the interest of our dear Nation. Those on the first column of this spiritually purposed exercise are the delegates. I urge them to write their names in gold by being facilitators of God’s will in Nigeria.

Let me say without equivocation state that God’s Will has always been done in Akpabio’s life. It has never failed him. Even when he suffered set back in the bid to return to the Senate through conspiratorial machinations of his political detractors, events that followed have shown that God permitted the conspiracy to succeed for a purpose. Perhaps he would not have been where he is today without that experience. Let us all be part of the beckoning history by supporting Akpabio through our votes and prayers. May God be with all of us . And Let God’s Will Be Done in Nigeria.
