By Saviour Ekpe
As a build up to the March 2, 2019 time table issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission with regards to the 2019 general elections, an alternative, qualified with superlative antecedents emerged with one clear vision of changing the political landscape of Uruan through effective representation at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Akparawa (Dr.) Peace Efefiong Udosen, humble in character, fair to all but firm in disposition, highly principled, a philanthropist of note, an outstanding advocate of good governance, an excellent academic who has distinguished himself for excellence over the years and repute in innovation, creativity, audacity in his chosen field of endeavours.
Dr. Udosen, an indigene of Ikot Edung village, Unit 7, Southern Uruan ward 1, Uruan local government of Akwa Ibom State has been seen as the best alternative to represent the people of Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly where he intends to use the platform to further boost his humanitarian activities of bettering the lives of Akwa Ibom, not just that of Uruan people.
As part of his Human Capacity Development, he has so far, single handedly as a private person given scholarship to many Akwa Ibom people from different local government areas who are brilliant from poor homes to study various courses in different Universities across the country. He also embarks on skills acquisition training in different trades for youths of his immediate community to ensure self sustenance and meaningful lives. This, in itself has accorded him many accolades across all strata, Awards such as Senior Advocate of Nigerian Students (SANS) bestowed on him in 2007; that of the entire Akwa Ibom students under the umbrella of National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS), Worldwide that singled him out for a Distinguished Leadership Excellence Award (DLEA-NAKISS WorldWide) in 2012 among others.
It is on this premise that a socio-political organization christened, Supreme Council of Uruan Political Gladiators (SUCUP-G) arising from their general congress held recently in Uruan local government area, averred that Akparawa (Dr.) Peace Efefiong Udosen will represent Uruan in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, hence the decision to vote in on March, 2019 general elections. Supreme Council of Uruan Political Gladiators (SUCUP-G) for the record is a conglomeration of all political parties in the area. The group, which declared that all political offices maintained as arranged exception of state Assembly, which is zoned to Southern Uruan.
While interacted with Century Newsfront, Dr. Peace Udosen said that his entrant into politics was necessitated by what he described as poor representation and weak empowerment programmes, doled out by politicians to the people in view of available goodies from government covers. He stressed that given the opportunity, he will raise the bar and act differently from what is always obtained, “when talking about empowerment, to me, it is not new because if I could single handedly empower over twenty people across the state, different Universities in this country, some of which have already graduated, others still in school. My village, Ikot Edung, I have organized series of skills acquisition for the youths. I want to show the people that using government resources, the lives of the people can drastically change for the better, which is why old politicians see me as a treat to them and I am ready to defeat them at the poll, I know where I am coming from”.
Dr. Udosen, a member of a front line socio-cultural organization in the state, the Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio when confronted by Century Newsfront on what gave him courage that he was going to win at the polls especially the way he was sounding, he confidently said, “Known logic of politics has changed. People now vote candidates and not necessarily political parties. Look, with my systematic structures which give me comparable advantage, coupled with the goodwill I have built over the years with political elders silently in my local government area, I am certain of winning this race”.
