….Inaugurates Uyo LG Bye-Law Review Committee, Ors

The Executive Chairman of Uyo local government area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has̵ inaugurated a 9-member Uyo Local Government Revenue Appraisal and Revenue Bye-law Review Committee.
Dr. Udo mandated the committee to undertake a quick review of the current revenue Bye-law of the council to align it with current realities; identify avenues of revenue leakages and suggest practical ways of tackling them.
The committee is also mandated to identify and recommend new revenue sources to improve the internally generated revenue of the council, as well as suggest any other means of boosting the internally generated revenue of the council.
The Uyo Council boss gave the committee 7 days from today December 11, 2020 to complete its assignment and submit report to the council for immediate implementation.
He hinted that the recommendations of the committee will form part of the executive bill that will be forwarded to the Legislature for consideration and possible passage for it to take effect from January 1, 2021.
The Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Justin Ekong in his acceptance speech pledged the committee’s readiness to deliver on the mandate.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Pst. Sylvia Ekong, Leader and Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council as well as the Head of Local Government Service in Uyo, Elder Godwin Affia.
