The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has appreciated the services of Elder Godwin Affia, the immediate past Head of Local Government Service, and Mrs. Emilia Edem, the immediate past Director of Health Services in Uyo Local Government Council as the duo retired from service having meritoriously served the government at different levels for 35 years.
In celebration of their retirement, the Local Government Council under the leadership of Dr. Udo organised a send-off ceremony in their honour on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Multipurpose Hall, Uyo Local Government Council.
The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Council, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, and his wife, Mrs. Akaninyene Uwemedimo, Chairman Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission, represented by Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, Chairman Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Ekerete Inyang, Chairman Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Hon. Joshua Affia, Chairman, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Arch. Iniobong Orok, the Vice Chairman of the Council Pst. Sylvia Ekong and the Leader of the Uyo Legislative Council, Hon. Ubong Effiong, Councilors and Supervisors of the Council.
Also present at the event was the new Head of Local Government Service for Uyo as well as Heads of Service from some other Local Government Areas, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Amos Etuk, family members of the retired staff and other dignitaries.
The high point of the celebration was the presentation of gift items to the retiring staff members of the local government.
