A Senior lecturer in Music Department, University of Uyo, Dr. Ime Dan Ukpanah was on the penultimate Sunday the 22nd day of October , 2017 ordained as Elder of the Qua Iboe Church Nigeria Nsekhe, Ikot Edong Area Superintendency, Akwa Ibom State having passed through the examination process earlier this year as the church demands.
The enthralling order of service witnessed the recitation of Qua Iboe Church creed as a yardstick by which to measure the faith of members and gratifies new entrants of the denomination in their sacrificial call to accept Christ and obey his commandments. Offertory prayer after all gave way to the ordination session with the presentation of the 4 ordained of the officiating Minister, Rev. I. J Umoren, Area Superintendent, Ikot Edong.
In his homily christened, qualification of an Elder, Rev. Umoren emphasized on the need for the new elders to always reflect a better attitude and Christian culture. He cited the book of Timothy 3:1-7; Act of the Apostle 20: 28,Titus 1:7, Exodus 18: 21 and 1 Peter5:4 for references and the confirmation on the nature of God’s reward to those who serve God in spirit and in truth. The man of God noted that faithfulness in serving God attracts Divine uplift, which according to him, amounts to laying treasures in heavenly places.
In his response, Elder (Dr) Ime Ukpanah thanked God for such privilege to serve in the vine yard of the Almighty God. He thanked the clergymen for giving him the opportunity to serve God in that capacity, promised that he will live up to expectation. He urged members and visitors to contribute to the building of the permanent church as such would give them the maximum courage to uphold their declaration in the vineyard of God as abundant blessing awaits them. The former Head of Music Department, University of Uyo gave an inspiring rendition titled “great is thy faithfulness”.
Others who were also ordained alongside Elder (Dr) Ime Ukpanah were Elder smart Hanson Ukpa, Elder Aniefiok Daniel Akpan and Elder Anthony Friday Ukpanah. The occasion featured thanksgiving, song ministration and was graced by eminent personalities including Rev. Dr. Iniobong Udoh, Chaplain Victory Chapel, University of Uyo; Prof. Aniedi Ette, Prof Mfonobong Umobong, Elder Prof. Godwin Akpan of University of Uyo; Mr Emmanuel Udoh of Victory Chapel, University of Uyo; Chief Senas Ukpanah, former Minister of Trade and Industry; Elder Godwin Obot, National Secretary of Qua Iboe Church and spouse; Elder Etop Uko, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and spouse among others.
