Wikki Tourists of Bauchi was today Thursday morning, February 18, involved in an accident on their way to Uyo for their game against Dakkada when the incident happened – Players of the club are all fine except for their properties and the bus that got burnt
Wikki Tourists who are top Nigerian Professional Football League side have taken to their official social media page to confirm that they had an accident on Thursday morning, February 18, on their way to Uyo. The Coaster Bus carrying players of the Bauchi-based club suffered electric problems along Kibo Road and it burnt to ashes with no life lost in the heartbreaking incident.
According to the report gathered, players of Wikki Tourists were fast enough to rush out of the bus when the fire started from the engine, but all their bags were burnt.
One of the officials of the club named Ibrahim who spoke with Legit.ng claimed that they are currently trying to get another bus that will take the players from the venue of the incident. ”We are thanking God that nobody died in this incident except for some luggage that were also burnt, but all the same, we are grateful to God once again that we lost no one. ”We have communicated this to all our bosses and also the LMC people and we are waiting for the new directive for us to take.”
Wikki Tourists will be facing Dakkada this weekend in their NPFL week 11 encounter which will be the first-ever topflight match between these two teams. The Bauchi-based side is currently occupying 10th position on the NPFL table, while their opponents for this weekend’s game occupy ninth.
Dakkada lost their last away game in Ilorin against Kwara United who won 3-0 and the Harmony Boys are currently topping the NPFL standings.
