…Seals Off Schools in Two LGAs
It will no longer be business as usual for operators of unapproved private schools as Akwa Ibom State Government is clamping down on illegal schools across the State.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet read the riot act on Tuesday while speaking to Newsmen shortly after sealing off premises of illegal schools in two Local Government Areas of Ikot Ekpene and Essien Udim.
The Commissioner who spoke through her Director of State Education Quality Assurance Services, Mrs Roseline Mfon, said; “I want to call on Proprietors of schools not yet certified by the Ministry of Education, the regulatory body to regularize their status in order not to face sanctions “.
Mrs Etiebet also sounded a note of warning to Proprietors of schools that were shut down some time ago, who went against government’s orders and reopened the schools, stressing that promoters of such illegality risk arrest and prosecution.
The Education Boss decried the fact that some of the schools work with sub-standard instructional facilities and personnel thus reaping off unsuspecting members of the public.
She reiterated State Government’s resolve to providing quality Education for children of Akwa Ibom State and as such will not condone activities of those working to truncate its efforts.
Meanwhile, the following schools were closed down: Oxbowh Academy, Reneps Nursery and Primary School, Gracious Children Academy, and Pleasant Success Model School, all in Ikot Ekpene LGA. Chally Chally Christian Academy in Essien Udim LGA was also sealed off.
