The Aviation Security and logistics sub-sector has been mandated by the National Union of Air Transport Employees to embark on a nationwide strike starting from Wednesday, August 16. This is as an aftermath of poor wages for the workers.
This was contained in a circular sent to the Director-General of Civil Aviation, the Managing Director, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, Airports Command, the Airport Commandant, Director, Department of State Security, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command, according to the Punch.
The circular which was signed by the General Secretary of NUATE, Comrade Ocheme Aba, lamented that AVSEC graduates were poorly paid.
He stated that some workers who are graduates earned as little as N30,000 monthly. He explained That all efforts to negotiate for improved wages for their members have not gained any success.
