Following media reports from some unverified media posts in Akwa Ibom State that the Akwa Ibom State Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udoh and other stakeholders in the party hierarchy have sold the party’s chances to another political party in the state ahead of the March 11 Governorship polls.

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udoh debunked such claims saying that it is an impossible task. Speaking to Journalists in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the Candidate described such publications as a mere distraction from the camp of the opposition whose aim is to distract the people knowing too well that Labour Party is solidly on the ground to win at the 2023 poll.

Flanked by the Director General of his campaign Council, Chief Anwana, the party Exco and other stakeholders, Mr. Udo noted that he is fully in the race and wondered why he could back out after recording such impressive strides during the presidential and National Assembly elections in the last two weeks, “we won across the state during the February 25 elections without bribing any voter or involving in any electoral malpractice, the records are there, including security reports, why should we sell our party or withdraw in the highway to succeeding and taking over the state? I see it as a mere distraction, it is not possible for a party that is leading across the country and is enjoying the acceptability of voters to back out of the race. I cannot betray Akwa Ibom people”.

He decried that the state has been divided along ethnic lines, pledged his determination to find the missing links, promised to rebuild the state and called on the eligible voters to go out on Saturday and vote him as governor of Akwa Ibom State and all Labour Party candidates in all the State Constituencies, “this is not the Akwa Ibom State that our parents left for us, we are coming in to restore our state for our people where ethnicity is not promoted. I employ all eligible voters; all Obidient in the state to come out enmasse on Saturday, March 11 and vote massively for Labour Party and I can assure you that we are winning by your support and Divine providence”.

Also speaking, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Captain Augustine Okon, “In the last week, our detractors have fed the public with a lot of disinformation. I make bold to say that Labour Party has a decent and competent man that will perform well in the Office of Governor of Akwa Ibom State closely following in the footstep and the example set by our principal when he was Governor of Anambra State. His name is Uduakobong Peter Udoh. He is young, 42 years old, untainted by corruption, well-educated, and a computer scientist. He is not coming with any political baggage to the Hilltop Mansion”.

“He will pay off all arrears of pensions and gratuity.  He will run a people-oriented government; he will allow Local Governments to operate autonomously as provided for in our Constitution. He will not pursue you with Siren. He will live with you and experience your pains.  We are positive that anybody we are presenting in Labour Party for our State House of Assembly will join our Governor to deliver good service to Akwa Ibom State. We hereby ascertain that no one person can sell off our Labour Party or subjugate it under another party. We are the structure. We are at the party. We are the multitude. If one person compromises, it does nothing to our collective resolve. We encourage all Obidient to defend their votes on Saturday, 11th March 2023. Please come out and vote massively for the Labour Party and all her candidates”.

In his remarks, the State Vice Chairman of Labour Party, Mr. Iniobong Nyong said that Labour Party in the state is intact and that nothing has happened to it apart from the fact that it is growing in leaps and bounds, “the Labour Party cannot be sold. We, the Labour Party have never negotiated with any party at any time and will never do”.
