… Say, Umo Eno’s Friendly disposition to the Community dates six years ago

The leaders of the Hausa Community in the state and top business moguls who have contributed largely to the economic growth of the state say, they are ready and willing to do everything within their powers to ensure that Governor Umo Eno succeeds in his quest to develop the state.
In a separate interaction with newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the Chairman, Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom State, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki and Secretary, Alhaji Mijinyawa Mohammed Adamu described Governor Eno as a man who is selfless, friendly and committed to any project he embarked upon to see that it succeeds.
They noted that Gov. Eno sees Hausas in the state as fellow citizens and development partners, hence his constant romance with them in most of their spiritual endearvours, “we are not surprised that Umo Eno emerged as Governor of the State. We know him very well and he is used to us as well. The last Sallah, he would have attended if he was around, so he sent his deputy to stand in for him. He gave us rams, rice and cash to buy condiments. There is no group in the Hausa community that did not get the offer. For more than six years ago, our governor usually invite the community to his hotel in Eket especially during Ramadan to break our fast there on a regular basis, not that he was looking for governorship because, by that time, I believe that he did not even nurse or dream of becoming the governor of the state. Because of his commitment to us, we on our own during the electioneering campaigns, fueled our buses, mobilized our members and followed him to all the local government areas for the campaign. Maybe when people saw us, they thought that he was the one that sponsored us, no, we sponsored ourselves throughout the election period because we know him to be a good man and we will stand by him to succeed”.
While calling on the governor to invest more in agriculture, education, railway and more road network so as to stimulate business endearvours in the state, they expressed optimism that the governor will use his tenure to better the lives of Akwa Ibom people in which they, according to them are an integral part of the state, “we believe that the governor while developing the state will come to the aid of the Hausa community. But in specific terms, we want the governor to invest more in education and boost the economy of the state by investing in agriculture, more road networks across the state and particularly, railway lines to link up the state to other states of the federation for the conveyance of foodstuffs, by so doing, prices of foodstuff will come down drastically”.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Uyo Central Mosque, Alhaji Muhammed Adamu said that he sees the state developing under Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to work, sincerity and open door policy. He pledged his continuous prayer for the governor, the people of the state and the governor himself, “it is my commitment to be praying for the governor, the government and the people of the state”.
