In an effort to promote National Security, Peace and unity in Nigeria, the executive team of the Nigeria Pro Wrestling Federation (NPWF) took it upon themselves to organize the National Security, Peace and Unity Pro Wrestling Championship at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in June 2021 and indeed and in truth, the championship that featured talents from across the country was a great success as it emphasized the need for security measures, peaceful co-existence, unity and mutual understanding in Nigerian communities.

The Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation was officially inaugurated in Nigeria by the then President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliu Shagari, on the 27th September 1981 with aims and objectives of developing the sport as well as supporting the government in the area of Human Capacity Development and Nation Building and to also oversee the sport of pro wrestling in Nigeria. Based on this, the 42nd Year Anniversary of the federation where the championship will hold promises to feature the best Nigerian and international talents at the Rojenny International Stadium, Oba, Anambra State, Nigeria on Sunday 8th October, 2023.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015 sincerely contributed in no small measure and his achievement includes but are not limited to: Construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, and other vital infrastructure;

Revitalization of agriculture; Promotion of tourism; Improvement of the overall living standards of the people of Akwa Ibom State among other achievements. ‘’I just love the senate president with passion. He has no rival in the whole of Akwa Ibom State.  I am set to win the wrestling Unity trophy for the Senate President, His Excellency Godswill Akpabio who is a bridge builder who jettisoned his personal interest in order to promote the interest of the people of the South-south. On the 8th of August, 2018, he empowered his constituents with two hundred and fifty thousand naira each, and about four hundred and fifty farmers benefited from this gesture in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, (SMEDAN). As a pro wrestling talent of appreciable repute who hails from Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State the only way I can to say thank you to the Senate president is to win the Unity Trophy and present it to him as a detribalized Nigerian’’ ne explained.

It is on record that Power Vic has been wrestling since 1990 and has fought with a lot of pro wrestling talents locally in Africa and internationally. He has wrestled around Nigeria and also in Ghana, Mali, South Africa and lastly Scotland. He received training in Glasgow, Scotland for 3 months in 2014 and when he came back to the country, he won a yet-to-be-challenged middleweight Title in 2016 in Asaba, Delta State. Stylish and dynamic Power Vic is an energetic and powerful young man with the potential to be a world champion with time. Power Vic is a professionally talented athlete.

“I have what it takes to defeat Aliking De Action Disaster of Kogi State or any other opponent that comes my way. I am not supposed to fight for the National Unity Trophy now, but I insisted that it has to be to afford me the opportunity of going home to present the Trophy to the Senate President of Nigeria who has done well for the nation. It may not be easy achieving this, but that does not mean it is impossible. After winning the trophy, I need to compete at home in Akwa Ibom State after so long a time. I have to compete for the Nigerian National Middleweight title as it will not be possible for anybody to rob me in front of my fellow Akwa Ibomites which can happen in any other part of the nation as there is no place like home. I am sure of victory at home. After clinching the title, I will present it to Senate President as the number three citizen of Nigeria and the overall father of the Akwa Ibom Project for all his supportive roles in sporting events, good governance, human capacity building, peaceful initiatives and for all his efforts and plans to take the Akwa Ibom and the South South region to the next level in Nigeria” he concluded.
