NPC Explains Reason For Postponement Of LGA-Level Training Of Supervisors, Enumerators

The National Population Commission has postponed the local government area-level training of Supervisors and Enumerators nationwide till further notice.

As contained in a press release signed by the Director, Public Affairs of the Commission in Abuja, Isiaka Yahaya, Ph.D and made available today to Century Newsfront stated that the decision was reached due to some emerging issues, “The Commission wishes to inform the general public that the LGA-level training of Supervisors and Enumerators that was scheduled to commence tomorrow, 13th April, 2023 has been postponed due to emerging issues. The new date will be communicated to the public in due course”.

The release noted that while the planning and preparations are in top gear to ensure credible and acceptable figures as would be generated at the 2023 Population and Housing Census (PHC), it advised members of the public to ignore a series of fake messages that are circulating around the country and look towards the new date for the training of census officials, “We assure Nigerians that the Commission remains committed to conducting a credible and acceptable 2023 Population and Housing Census and that all preparations are in top gear. Consequently, we advise the public to disregard any message contrary to this information. We regret any inconvenience this postponement may cause the functionaries”.

In another development, the National Population Commission, Akwa Ibom State on the Penultimate day rounded off the orientation programme for local government area training Coordinators; Training Center Managers/Administrators as well as the NPC Comptrollers in preparation for the Local government Level Training of functionaries in the State.

Addressing the officials in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Akwa Ibom State, Chief (Engr.) Benedict Ukpong (Okete Okete Oro) who was flanked by the State Director, Mr. Emmanuel Edem and other senior staffers of the Commission charged them to update themselves with the most recent technology in ICT as the 2023 PHC will be completely digital in operation. He reminded them of their roles and urged them to pay rapt attention to the training and be well vest in the rudiments of their responsibilities.

The Commissioner refreshed the minds of participants on activities embarked already by the commission, noted that all are geared towards the success of the forthcoming census, he emphasized that “a good census result is a product of a well-organized training and preparation”.

The event featured paper presentations on: The Roles and Responsibilities of the Local Government Training Coordinators by Mr. Mfon Umoden, State Training Coordinator; The Functions of the Local Government Areas Field Coordinators by Mr. Samuel Charlie, HOD Census/ Field Coordinator, FCT; The Roles and Responsibilities of the Local Government Areas TCMA Coordinators by Mr. Friday Ekpo, HOD Administration/ State TCMA Coordinator as well as question and answer sessions.
