Following the widespread rumours of the support groups of the Obi-Datti movement in Akwa Ibom State collapsing their structures in support of other candidates and political parties as against candidates of the Labour party in the state. The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) had an interface with heads of support groups and coordinators of the Obi-Datti movement in Akwa Ibom State yesterday, the 11th of March 2023.
The meeting had in attendance heads of support groups, party officials, members of the PCC both state and national in attendance. The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Captain Augustine Okon, expressed unreserved thanks to members for their commitment, courage and unwavering support for Peter Obi. He also applauded them for standing firm in their resolution and showing great courage even in the face of danger.
He assured members that His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi will reclaim the mandate given him at the poll while stressing the need for all the support groups to work together as a team to deliver the party gubernatorial candidate and all members of the state assembly of the Labour Party. The PCC State Coordinator stated that the group had no issues with members that leave to support whoever they wanted but that what is deeply frowned at, is using the name of the group to engage in such acts, stating that it was illegal and that others should desist from such acts.
In their separate reactions, members of the group unanimously agreed that it was not just enough for them to leave the group but that they were accounted to the group hence the need to render a proper account of money disbursed to them by the organization before and during the elections day and if they fail to do so, the group will employ various legal means to recover the unspent money. Others stressed the need to spread the information to their followers and others across the state to support and vote Mr. Uduakobong Udo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party as instructed by Mr. Peter Obi.
The high point of the meeting had in attendance the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Mr. UduakObong Udo who cleared the air on the rumours making the rounds that he was no longer in the race and had collapsed his structure for another candidate. Mr. Uduakobong Udoh explained some of his manifestoes as well as the modus-operandi as regards the implementation, sustenance, maintenance and continuity of the numerous mind-blowing projects he has technically mapped out for Akwa Ibom State, inclusive of modern infrastructure, Rapid ICT development, Agricultural revolution’ most especially palm-oil produce and exportation, Waste Recycling, Tourism development ventures that will attract foreigners from across the globe resulting in great revenue generation, Free Education from Primary school to university, Industrialization of Akwa Ibom State, Ibom deep sea Port completion, Job creation and Youth empowerment among many others.
