The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon Uko Friday Umoh has called on Iman Ibom people to support him to bring unity, peace and development to Etinan local government area.
Speaking when he played host to members of Iman Ibom Press Corps who were in his office on a courtesy visit, Hon Uko Umoh who described himself as a miracle Chairman, said he does not believe in forming or belonging to any cartel or cabal but seeks the unity, peace and development of all strata of the society. I am calling on all of you to join me to change the negative narrative about Etinan. Support me to bring back the past glory of Etinan. We have started already and I want you to join me in this great task of rebuilding our land,” he appealed.
Hon Uko Umoh listed efforts of his administration in the last two months to include clearing of roads, staff welfare, registration of 150 students for JAMB, setting up of a committee to look into abandoned or vandalised projects in the 64 villages of Etinan as well as the ongoing grading of four kilometers of road from each of the 12 wards in the area.
” As I am talking with you now, I know the challenges of our people in the rural communities because I have with me a comprehensive report. We have also completed road grading in four wards. The issue is for prominent names of Iman Ibom extraction to come together and bring development to our land”
He spoke of plans to attract investment to Etinan local government area in the area of sports development, automobile shops and workshops as well as banks that have already indicated interest in Etinan. “I want you to know that the power is within us to bring peace and development to Etinan. My appeal is that we come together and build a formidable front. As for me, we would continue to do our best to make Etinan what it should be as one of the oldest local government areas in the country”.
