…Harps on peace, harmony, restoration of lost glory
The Executive Chairman, Ukanafun Local Government Area, Hon. (Pst) Godwin Inyieng yesterday held a Peace and Security Committee meeting to resolve conflicts emanating from the struggle for village headship in Ohoabu community, which is one of the villages among the 87 villages in Ukanafun LGA.
Inyieng stressed the need to coexist peacefully so as to foster productivity, a continuous jubilee and development in the area while maintaining that backwardness is strongly correlated with crisis and as such, peace becomes the most priceless commodity to embrace at all times.
After a well-concentrated deliberation and hearing from elders of the community, security operatives and other senior citizens, the Chairman noted, “No individual or group should celebrate the emergence of village head yet until the matter on contention is completely resolved”.
He further declared the outcome of the last village head selection null and void, and suspended further activities pertaining to the traditional activities in the community and directed the Council Secretary to liaise with the family heads of Ohaobu community in overseeing the affairs of the community till a common ground is set and all issues sorted out amicably for the benefit of all.

Amos Daniel Akpan; Former member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and current Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Saturday Akpan; Former member AKHA, Hon. (Eld) Idong Umoh; the Chapter Chairman of People Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. (Eld) Godwin Ekpe among others.
