The visit of political ward 7 by Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette, as she canvasses for vote to represent Uyo Senatorial District at the National Assembly, the entire community was lighted up as she spent time with aged, women and youth of her family and unit with messages of goodwill from elders, women, youths and sojourners of the community, all spoke in one voice saying, “we are very happy that our daughter is the first female that is going to represent Uyo senatorial district in the national assembly”.

The people explained that Etinan is one of the local government areas that had not had a shot at the Senate and maintained that her emergence as a candidate in ADC (African Democratic Congress) is a clear testament of Divine approval for her candidacy.

While communities such as Ikot Udo Adia, Ikot Esua and Ikot Ekang villages led by Eteidung Ifiok Ukpong,  came together in a show of solidarity for her emergence promised that the three villages will reach out to other villages in Etinan and beyond to bargain and lobby where needs be on the need to support Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette to emerge and subsequently sworn into the Red Chambers of the National Assembly in Abuja.

The candidate who was heralded with his name enshrined in songs of acceptance by not only the women but youths and the chiefs of those communities assured her that 2023 general elections, they are ready to vote for persons not party, since, according to them, ‘politics is the game of interest’.

Speaking earlier, Princess (Dr.) Victoria Ibokette, the ADC (African Democratic Congress) candidate for Uyo Senatorial District who was overwhelmed by the euphoria of being in the midst of her people said that her journey to Senate is people-based not under selfish or personal aggrandizement. She further stated that she is comfortable but seeing the level of poverty on the land and the extent to which the youths are involved in cultism, drug addiction and other social vices as a result of joblessness she stepped out to salvage them using political powers.

She added that all the wasted scholarship opportunities that abound for Nigerian students do not come to the state because ‘there is no one to push and go all out for it’. She promised to use her connection to harness good things for the people of Uyo Senatorial District if given the opportunity.
