Uyo Field Superintendent of the Apostolic Church Nigeria Apostle Prof. Ime George has been conferred with the fellowship Honour of The Counseling Association of Nigeria, CASSON at the 46th International Conference of the body held at Yola, Adamawa State.

Prof. George whose highest national honour of the professional body which he is a member, comes on the heels of his numerous achievements as a practicing Counselor with various publications to his credit.

Speaking to the press, the visibly excited George, said that his honour by CASSON is humbling, while crediting his feats as a counselor to God whom he said guides his path. Prof George dedicated the honour to God, his family, the Church and young people whom he added are always of interest to him as a teacher and mentor.

The Adamawa conference which discussed issues of mental health with the theme “Mental Health And Counseling Psychology In The Post-Covid-19 Era In Nigeria”, made a case for Counselors to take steps towards addressing the rising cases of negative mental health in Nigeria.

Also at the event was the public presentation of a book titled ‘Repositioning Counseling Roles in the Post Covid-19 Era’, a Festschrift in honour of Prof. Daniel Denga, which Prof. George authored a chapter.

The Apostolic Cleric who once served as the head, Department of Guidance and Counseling, University of Uyo, is a known advocate of healthy marriage, family life as well as social justice.
