AKHA calls on ministry of education to renovate Etinan Institute By John Ernest

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly through its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke has called on the Ministry of Education and inter-ministerial direct labour Coordinating Committee to intervene and renovate the dilapidated state of Etinan Institute, Etinan.
The Speaker made the call recently while responding to request brought to the House by member representing Etinan State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Aniefiok Dennis Akpan. In his words, “Permit me to be a benevolent detector at a time like this to say that member Etinan, your prayers are granted as prayed and I want to urge the relevant agencies to please look into the plead of member Etinan, specially Ministry of Education and other agencies as contained in your prayer. So by the power conferred on me as the Rt. Hon. Speaker. I grant the two of your prayers, this is the wish of the House.” said the Speaker.
Earlier, presenting the matter via a motion titled; “The Alarming Infrastructural Decay At The 100years Centre of Excellence, Etinan Institute, Etinan, on the floor of the house, Hon. Dennis Akpan said that the institute founded by missionaries in 1915 has not benefited from the massive renovation of infrastructures in the public schools across the State.
In His motion, “Education unarguably has become one of the dependable global indices that social, economic, culture and political developments of people in a different race and geographical location and predicated. In Akwa Ibom State, one educational institution that had carved out a name for herself as a center of excellence in the distant past in Etinan institute in Etinan Local Government”.
The lawmaker reasoned that the institution which has produced several successful Akwa Ibom indigene show not be allowed to waste away.
