…Set To Provide Portable Water For Production
The Cross River State Water board Limited has begun groundwork to provide portable water to the Vitaminized Rice Mill in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State Nigeria.
Speaking on the progress of the project during an inspection tour, the Managing Director, Cross River State Water board Limited, Chief Victor Effiom Ekpo who thanked the governor, Sen. Ben Ayade and the commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Okon Owuna for choosing the state water board for the provision of portable water for the factory noted that the board is poised to deliver on the task given.
He further advised the state government to privatize the mill to ensure 100% profitability of the factory which translates to the sustenance of its partnership with the board. “I am seriously impressed with the work done so far, over 50% of the work has already been achieved. We hope to have a good and sustainable relationship with the Rice Mill. I am calling for a round table meeting with the management of the Rice mill as Cross River State Water Board limited will like to test run and maintain the pipes for the period of 6 weeks.
“My advice to the state governor, His Excellency, Sen. Ben Ayade is to, as a matter of Urgency, privatize the rice mill to ensure that the mill fulfils its obligations to its partners”.
On his part, the Plant Manager, Cross River State Water Board Limited, Ogoja, Engr Obeten Alphonsus while highlighting the challenges of the project to include the laying of pipes underground in order to avoid damaging the aesthetics of the just asphalted road added that the project will be achieved within three weeks.
“Our water is world standard and that is what prompted the engineer in charge of this project to request that we supply them with portable water. In three weeks time, water will get to the rice mill and the factory can decide when they will start operation”.
Recall that the Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade had said he will convert the entire state into rice farmers, and that the formal commissioning of the Cross River State-owned 10-ton per hour ultra-modern rice mill located in Ogoja Local Government Area would be performed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
