The visit of the man of God, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi – the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry to Akwa Ibom State for the second time Sunday September 4, 2016 is an indication of good things to come.
His last visit to the state was on Sunday June 5, 2016 at the Uyo Township Stadium which signaled an extraordinary blessing to the state. This time around, the venue has been shifted to Godswill Akpabio International Stadium – the nest of champions. The visit of this man of God is significant and the theme for the people of Akwa Ibom aptly chosen- A New Dawn.
Now that the church in Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State in particular is gradually losing its Christianity without being aware, it takes a true man of God to make the church aware of this predicament. It is true that the church today has radically moved from being a congregation of penitent sinners to an assemblage of unrepentant sinners, hardened and senseless criminals of different shades and status paying fat tithes in the church.
It is an indefensible commentary that despite the proliferation of churches which appears to be a practical demonstration of the commercial ingenuity of our religious entrepreneurs, the incidences of anti-social vices have been on the increase. If the church must regain its rightful position in our state, as it was in the past, she must, as a shining light in darkness, return to the old time religion that made her the custodian of moral virtues and values which held the fibre of society together.
That is why we jointly see the ecclesiastical Pastor Kumuyi to Akwa Ibom State, at this point in time a blessing in disguise, and guided by the Holy Spirit of God especially at a time where fear of uncertainty occasioned by the dreaded ‘mber month’. Therefore on Sunday 4th September, 2016, all roads across Akwa Ibom State would lead to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo to experience the new dawn which has come to Akwa Ibom State by 8am.
