In every human endeavour, there is always an uphill task to overcome thus craving way for continuation of life, prosperity and peace. Similarly, in the life of a family, group, individual or society like Nigeria such is the case and needs carefulness, diligence, good leadership and followership. In the case of the present government which affairs of the nation’s rest on its shoulders, there are many uphill tasks before many some of which are inhabited from the past governments among which are competition and pipeline vandalism? Other task before its concerns the health of the people of the nation mostly sickle cell and malaria, polio, passer fever and Ebola on epidemic which had claimed many lives in Africa and some other parts outside the continent.
Against this backdrop the country newsprint newspaper salute the present government of Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, the Akwa Ibom State government under the leadership of Deacon Udom Emmanuel and the MTN, a communication agency, for their initiative in tackling the health problem of the people of the State. Tagged MTN Foundation Eyesight Restoration intervention scheme phase 2, the programme works tool and improving the quality of life in communities and is taking place at the Ibom Hall ground, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. so far, the project which began on the 11th January, 2016 had help many people in the State to regain their eyesight and would end on the 30th of January, 2016.
For this reason, we use this opportunity to commend the government both at the center and in the State for their onerous task in tackling the health problems of Nigerians especially those of sickle cell and malaria, Polio, Ebola and Lassa fever. We highly appreciate their effort for their enlightenment of the people about these menaces. We call on them to handle the issue of 300 illegal immigrants from Gabon said to have been accosted by the immigration officials within the Nigeria shores in order not to come into strange ailments to affect the unsuspecting Nigerians. Finally, going by the saying that a healthy nation breeds wealth and wealth breeds a healthy nation, it is hoped that by the time the present government wins the war against competition the health of the nation would be assured. Since the task is not that of the government alone we call on all Nigerians irrespective of their religion, ethnic and political leanings to join hands with the government to make these tasks surmountable. Nigeria, We Hail Thee!!!
