…we are trying to draft him in but if he refuses, we will force him – One for change
By John Ernest
One of the socio-political groups in Akwa Ibom State seeking for positive change in the state and country at large, ONE FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE on Sunday said that the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Obong Nsima Ekere has not shown interest in the Governorship position of the state in 2019 election.
The National President of ONE FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE, Prof. Etok Ekanem made this known to newsmen after 2017 harvest celebration and thanksgiving service held at the Presbyterian Church, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo. Prof. Ekanem stated that the group is try to encourage Obong Nsima Ekere to join the race added that the group believes that Obong Nsima Ekere is the instrument God can use to change things in Akwa Ibom State. He maintained that if after their persuasion and encouragement, Obong Nsima has not still indicated interest, the group will force him.
He declared, “well Obong Nsima Ekere, as a matter of fact has not told anybody that he is running for Governorship of Akwa Ibom State. What we are trying to do is to draft him into the race. “That ‘ONE’ FOR CHANGE” actually means Obong Nsima Ekere for Change. What we are trying to do is to tell Nsima Ekere that we are seeing you as an instrument that God can use to change things in Akwa Ibom State, we are trying to encourage him to indicate interest and if after encouraging and persuading him, he falls to do so, then we will force him. “By the time we will get to the level we want for change, all Akwa Ibom people will be talking about Obong Nsima Ekere…”
He stressed that ONE FOR CHANGE is a group for APC faithful and also for people who are seeking for positive change in the state, adding that the group is open to all Akwa Ibom sons and daughters who are willing to join hands together to bring the change in the State. It could be recalled that recently; this group was inaugurated, which they pledged to rescue Akwa Ibom State.
