… Called on students to take study serious

Abak Local Government Area was agog last weekend as people from all walks of life, academics, professionals, titled chiefs and royal fathers, parents, students and members of the public gathered at Mbarakom, a siren and peaceful community near the popular Army Barracks, Ibagwa for Second Matriculation Ceremony of the prestigious Peace Institute of Management and Technology (Peace Polytechnic).
About 80 students in both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in two major faculties of Management and Social Sciences as well as Applied Sciences and Engineering as approved by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and licensed by the Federal Ministry of Education were processed at the ceremony alongside with the management staffers.
Addressing the crowd, the Rector of the institution, Dr Peace Udosen appreciated God Almighty for Divine favour showed them and narrated the journey so far in Peace Polytechnic as it relates to the licensing and accreditation processes by the Federal Ministry of Education and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the enlistment of the institution among the other Bodies of education internationally and nationally recognized.
Dr Udosen further declared the intention of the Institution to soar the heights of the eagles in the academic world as plans are already put in place for the construction of a three storey building for the Higher National Diploma (HND) program in addition to the structures on ground as he buttressed on the ability and capacity of the institution to offer nothing short of the clean record of standard educational system in the contemporary.
He re-echoed the vision as well as the mission of the institution, which is, “to be an academic center of excellence that provides an enabling environment for the students to maximize their potentials in their chosen course of study and build intellectual development for the benefit of the Society”. The academic called on students to key into the vision of the institution for the betterment of their future. He encouraged parents to grab the opportunity at their doorsteps to invest in the future by supporting their children to choose Peace Polytechnic especially those within the axis.
The event however featured several academic displays which include taking of matriculation oath, matriculation lecture, presentation of album release by a student, inauguration of the 2019/2020 Students Union Government (SUG) Executive, presentation of trophy to the winner of football competition. Inauguration of alumni, presentation of prototype for the three storey building for HND program, ministration by the school choir, Brass Band display, cutting of cake in honour of Engr. Abasiono Okon.
Dignitaries within and outside the academia grace the occasion, among whom were Board of Trustees Chairman, Apostle (Prince) Efefiong Udosen; Chairman, Governing Council, Engr. (Dr) Abasiono Okon; Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. Juliana P. U; Deputy Register- Academics, Princess Emek F. U; Acting Dean, Students Affairs, Mr. Essien S. M; Acting Director, Academic Planning; our Editor-in-Chief, Saviour Ekpe; visiting scholars and other management staffers.
