Road Traffic Rules: FRSC Enlightens Staff Of The Ministry Of Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs

Ahead of the Yuletide season and the forth coming general elections, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corp on Tuesday took out time to sensitize Staff of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on the need to stay safe and sound by complying with traffic rules and regulations.

In a lecture by the Command Public Relations officer, RC P.O James, he charged the Staff not to ignore traffic signs and safety tips, stressing the importance of motorists checking their vehicles before embarking on any journey to ascertain that the vehicles are road worthy.

James also enumerated possible causes of road accidents to include: expired tires, lack of vehicle maintainance, traveling at odd times, violation of road signs, drunk- driving, etc, calling for proactive measures to forestall road crashes and incidents.

Also speaking, another FRSC official, SRC. CC Nwosu, harped on the minimum speed limit, avoidance of wrong overtaking, use of seatbelts, and the need to be alert when boarding commercial vehicles to avoid falling prey to criminals, amongst others.

Earlier in a welcome remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Elder Ini Ikie commended the Federal Road Safety Corps for always deeming it fit to educate staff of the Ministry on safety and security measures, noting that they were in the Ministry same time in 2021.

The Permanent Secretary who spoke through the Director of Administration, Mr Edet Etukudoh said the enlightenment program was apt and a necessity, enjoining the Staff to take advantage of the opportunity to update their knowledge.

On her part, the Director of Inspectorate, Mrs Ime Akpan lauded FRSC for the visit and solicited the provision of road safety manuals to Staff of the Ministry to further aid both motorists and pedestrians on road signs and other safety precautions.
