The Nsit Atai Local Government born political stalwart, Chief Sunday Elijah is very unpredictable a politician as regards his chameleonic behavior of jumping from one party to another just like we witnessed in his recent announcement of the uncalled for defection in just a few months from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressive Congress, APC, by citing the disruption of the local government zoning system by the Peoples Democratic Party leadership in the state.
The former PDP chieftain who commended the party for afforded him all the opportunity he had in the past during his services with the party argued in his claimed that the reason behind his decision to defect to the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the recent distortion of a long standing zoning arrangement of Nsit Atai political variations in the just concluded primaries in the state.
Though, some political stakeholders in Nsit Atai and the state has questioned his alleged claims for a man who just defected from the APC to the PDP in a couple of year recently, many argued and said his insinuations disruption of zoning arrangement in Nsit Atai Local Government Area is a baseless and false claim, which cannot hold waters since he’s not a reliable and trustworthy politicians owing to his political mentality of jumping from one political party to the other in search of greener Pasteur.
However, many critics who expressed their different opinions in various media platform affirmed that the former PDP stalwart, Chief Sunday Elijah whose wife Hon. (Mrs) Sarah Elijah once served the people of Nsit Atai State Constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly should not be taken as a serious or dogged politicians who can stand his ground for his people anytime any day due to his selfish kind of political philosophy of defecting from one political party to another at random with a view of satisfying his own personal gains at the expense of his people.
Also, it could be recalled that the said politician who recently decamped the All Progressives Congress last year to the Peoples Democratic Party. Besides, his dramatic style of defecting from one party to another should be seen by all and sundry as a political jobber whose business in the field of politics could be termed as a means of acquiring personal interest of livelihood or wantonly accumulated wealth for his household alone at the detriment of its constituent despite his claim of defending the good people of Nsit Atai Local Government Area as he claimed in his statement after defecting.
Meanwhile, reacting to the recent defection of Chief Sunday Elijah to the opposition party (APC) in the state is the Member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset on a radio interview did not only debunk the claims by Chief Sunday Elijah that his decision to part ways with the PDP is the distortion of zoning system in Nsit Atai Local Government Area by the PDP in the recently conducted primaries in the State.
The lawmaker, whose antecedent and pedigree of effective representation in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and to the entirety of Nsit Atai people in the past three years of representation said that the good people of Nsit Atai are law abiding citizens of the state and Nigeria and as such, should not engage in any political behavior or to do anything that would disrupt or truncate the unity of the Nsit Atai loving people of Akwa Ibom State irrespective of party affiliations.
While upholding the traditional peaceful tenet of Nsit Atai people, he affirmed that the defection of Chief Sunday Elijah to the APC recently is irrelevant and baseless as Nsit Atai Local Government Area remains a leveled playing ground for PDP in the State.
