The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Akparawa James Edet has charged staff of the Ministry to imbibe good work ethics and cordial working relationship as enshrined in the Civil Service Rule for the overall benefit of the Ministry.

Akparawa James Edet who urged the staff to create a conducive working environment geared towards the growth of the Ministry, stated that, no organisation exist without conflict stressing that, the ability to resolve such conflicts and remain focused on service delivery is what makes an organisation stand tall amongst its contemporaries.

The Permanent Secretary who was speaking during his maiden meeting with headquarters staff, held in the Conference Room of the Ministry, earlier today, advised them against poor attitude to work as exhibited in such negative acts as: absenteeism, truancy, loitering, lateness to work and lack of meeting set targets in service delivery, among others.

He said the Ministry’s Monitoring Team will be strengthened for effective monitoring of staff to checkmate negative practices adding that disciplinary actions will be meted out to erring staff to serve as deterrent.

The Permanent Secretary commended the newly promoted Officers into the management cadre and advised them to always make themselves available to contribute to the development of the Ministry and also add value to the system.

Akparawa Edet who had prior to the meeting met with all Unit heads of the Ministry, directed them to have regular meetings with their subordinates for proper coordination, improved performance, and work optimization, assuring that, decisions concerning the welfare and operations of staff of the different units will be taken care of by the Ministry within the availability of resources.

He used the forum to introduce the new Director of Information, Mrs. Blessing Urua, the new Director of Technical Services, Mr. Joseph Etem, the new Director of Strategy, Mr. Aniekan Ukpong and the two new Administrative staff, Ntimkpo Udoka, an Assistant Director and Veronica Ekpenyong, an Assistant Chief Administration Officer to all Staff.

While responding to questions from staff bordering on effective service delivery and inclusion in the Ministry’s scheme of things, during the interactive session, the Permanent Secretary solicited for dedication, support and cooperation and assured all of better days ahead.

In attendance at the staff meeting were: Mrs. Grace Akpan, the Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Tiuba Nduonofit, the Director of Administration, Mr. Marvelous-Friday Udo, General Editor in-charge of Publications as well as all Units Heads of the Ministry.
