Governor Udom Emmanuel has continued to strike optimism note in the road infrastructural development as he opens up areas hitherto inaccessible to achieve the best possible result for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Emmanuel who is inclined to effect visible development in all parts of the State, has directed for immediate inspection of the 10km Odoro Ikpe-Mbiabet Ikpe road in InI Local Government Area, with a view to including the rich rice plantation zone in the road construction plan of the State.
The Honourable Commissioner for works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen who led the inspection team to the area, directed immediate grading of the road, said Governor Udom Emmanuel is poised to provide good road network in the area to bolster rice production and also attract investors to the rice project, as well as to promote social interaction among the people.
Akparawa Inyang-eyen who was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Permanent Secretary Dr. Ifreke Ekpa, Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Mfon Abia and other top Government Officials opined that the construction of Odoro Ikpe-Mbiabet Ikpe road will open up the area and also link the people up with the neighbouring states of Cross River and Abia, thereby promoting possible economic activities among the various communities.
The Works Boss extolled the cooperative nature and peaceful disposition of the teeming youth and community leaders of the areas who came out in thousand to welcome the inspection team, explaining that their action is a clear indication that they have welcomed government’s presence in their area.
He added that Governor Udom Emmanuel who is development friendly will reciprocate the people the more through provision of many other projects in the area and called for their continued support to the administration.
Akparawa Inyang-eyen assured the people that with the Governor’s investment in the production of the rice plantation in the area, the youth will be gainfully employed and the general welfare of the area will be changed for better.
One of the community leaders, Chief Josiah Udo Ekanem of Mbiabet Ikot Udo who spoke on behalf of the people expressed joy over Governor Udom Emmanuel’s determination to construct roads leading to the Mbiabet Ikpe rice plantation and the eagerness of the Governor to invest in the rice production in the area.
Chief Josiah Ekanem pledged the resolve of the people of the area to support Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration in Akwa Ibom State for working for the welfare of the people of Ini Local Government Area
