In its effort to make life comfortable to her citizenry, the Akwa Ibom State Government has embarked on renovation and revitalization of schools and hospitals for the well being of the Akwa Ibom people.
The exercise which was extended to St Paul’s Primary School, Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area had the applause of the entire community as the dilapidated structures of the only primary school in Ibaka now have the appearance of quality and conducive learning environment.
As was disclosed to Century Newsfront, the said primary school structures have being in existence since 1914 and has undergone series of minor renovation which had rather worsen the condition thereof, but the decision of the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, the story has taken a new turn. The licking roofs, cracked walls, dusty floors have all been put in replace. The two renovated structures in the school are now standing tall to meet up the education standard in Akwa Ibom State.
In his interaction with Century Newsfront, the Paramount Ruler of Mbo, His Royal Majesty, Ovong (Dr) E.O Isemin described the action of the state government to be a sincere quest for greater development and encouraged the villagers to see the renovated school blocks as their own property and ensure any act tilting toward vandalization of the structures should be reported for action. Meanwhile, he lauded the government of Mr. Udom Emmanuel for extending the development tour to his own community.
Century Newsfront also gathered that the entire community has been ignited with joy, especially the less privileged who could not afford the cost of sending their wards to private schools. This however prompted them vow giving maximum support to Udom in the up-coming election, while few others stated the action of the state government to be one of Udom’s campaign strategies. In his reaction, Prince Windy Ukutuda, President of the Ibaka Development Organization said that state government programme and that whether for campaign or not, development of education system is part of responsibilities. He also used the medium to thank the state government for making his own community for maintaining peace during the renovation exercise for a successful work.
As part of their contributions to the gesture of the state government, the Federated Ibaka Student Association (FISA) of young students in the community, challenged by the action of the state government, provided a brand new sign post to the school. The President of the association, Comrade Edet Ukap said the association is to raise responsible intellectuals in the community in particular and the nation in general through the building and instilling good morals to the students.
